#17: You need them more than they need you

recruitingbyteslogoAsk yourself this; if this person were a superstar, would they be desperate for what I have to offer? The answer is probably NO. A superstar can find a job anywhere, and they know it! Don’t just leave one or two messages for someone and then forget about them.

If you believe that person could be an asset to your company, continue to call them and don’t take it personally if they don’t call you back. It’s the ones that are easiest to reach and consistently call you that you should be most concerned about.

When you make the initial call, start out like this;

“Hi ___(applicants name)___, this is ___(your name)___ at ___(your company name)__, I’m looking for a few good __(position type)__ and wanted to see if you’d be interested in talking. Are you open to another position?

If you’re leaving a message on a voicemail, use something like this;

“Hi ___(applicants name)___, this is ___(your name)___ at ___(your company name)__, I’m looking for a few good __(position type)__ and wanted to see if you’d be interested in talking. If you’re open to another opportunity, give me a quick call. My number is __(your phone number)__.
