Start building a direct mail list of every single person that you’ve ever interviewed, ever sent you a resume, filled out an application or been listed as a technical reference for any past applicants. Keep updating and adding new names to this list as you continue to get new applicants and start a monthly/quarterly direct mail campaign sending a letter or post card to each of these people.
If you’re consistently advertising every month, you’ll likely add 20, 30 or even as many as 100 new people to your list each month. Over the course of a year, your list will grow to 240+++ people and continue to grow every single year thereafter. Just think if you had been doing this for the past 5 or 10 years, you’d have a database of over 2,000 potential applicants that you could market to.
